The free abrasives

A free abrasive is an abrasive grain not bonded to a support (a surface for coated abrasives or a solid volume for bonded abrasives).
The abrasive action of the grain on the workpiece is exerted under the effect of pressure in the case of lapping and polishing, or by impacts in the case of sandblasting, shot blasting, bead blasting.
